Acknowledgement: defined by the Sticky-Marketing.com monthly magazine

Acknowledgement or Order Acknowledgement is when in response to a customer's purchase order an organisation immediately sends out a document (an Order Acknowledgement) acknowledging that it has received the purchase order. Legally there is an imperative for sending an Order Acknowledgement because it also serves to inform the customer the terms and conditions under which the company is accepting the customer's purchase order. Note: the customer's purchase order usually includes its own terms and conditions so should an Order Acknowledgement not be sent these would have been the last terms served and in a dispute may be taken to be those governing the contract between the parties.
