Brainstorming: defined by the Sticky-Marketing.com monthly magazine |
|
Brainstorming is a technique to aid creativity where people are instructed not to critique any ideas flowing from the exercise until later, in a way to suspend disbelief as one does when watching the movies. Typically a brainstorming session involves gathering a team of people, presenting them with a problem to which solutions are required and instructing them that no criticism of any ideas is allowed during the perhaps 20 minutes that they are all asked to produce ideas for solutions to the problem. After the 20 minutes or so are up, evaluation and further discussion can take place but separating the initial production of ideas from their discussion, critique and evaluation can have a positive effect on groups of people allowing individuals to produce ideas however far fetched they may initially appear which might be discarded perhaps without proper consideration in a normal environment. 07/08/2001 Use your browser back button or click here to visit the Sales & Marketing Glossary of Terms
