Cash cow: defined by the Sticky-Marketing.com monthly magazine

"Cash cow" is a term applied to a product or service usually in a mature sector or in a mature state of it's life cycle. Cash cows are by definition profitable products or business units perceived and used as a source of funds for the development or promotion of other offerings which are seen as having better future prospects. These other offerings may be referred to as rising stars.
