"Cold calling" is the process of telephoning or calling at the door of people who have not expressed any interest in the product, service or organisation you are promoting, researching or communicating a message about. Cold calling does not have to mean that the target people are not likely prospects for your offering but it does mean that they have not requested your attentions (if they had it would be following up of some kind and not cold). As such cold calling often involves the greatest percentage of rejection for the people carrying out the task who need to have a robust outlook to avoid letting regular disappointment affect their body language and voice patterns. Cold calling is often called canvassing when used in the political context. See also lead generation, telemarketing 10/06/2001 Use your browser back button or |
