Database - relational database: defined by the Sticky-Marketing.com monthly magazine

A relational database is a description of a type of database in which sets of records are linked together and relate on some common value stored in each set of records. An example might be when one set of records contains company details, another set of records contains employees details which is linked to the first by the company name or a registration number and another set of records contains perhaps the products that company produces also linked to the company records by the company name or number. Most company computer administration systems are based on a relational database.
