Open Questions are distinct from closed questions in that the respondent can answer in any way. Example: "What do think of the new out of town supermarket car parking arrangements?" Where researchers are looking for information on a subject and do not necessarily expect to be able to group responses or apply statistics to them open questions are generally used.
