A sales database (or sales & marketing database) is a paper or computer database containing the important personal contacts that a company has with its clients and potential clients. Important for ensuring vital knowledge does not walk out of the company when a sales person leaves such a database can be built on to prove a valuable asset to a company. Notes: vital in industrial markets featuring direct selling from salesperson to buyer, also for manufacturers in consumer markets selling face to face to buyers in retail outlets and chains, also of value in markets such as those for new cars where distributors sell to consumers.
