Internet, Search engines, Optimisation: defined by the Sticky-Marketing.com monthly magazine

The process of developing a website and pages within such that they return better results in search engines.

A highly competitive area the aim is for the website to rank on one or more search engine results page higher than hundreds or thousands of other peoples web sites for given searches.

This can involve developing Meta Tags (hidden content for search engines to read) robots commands (commands telling search engines which pages to list and index), modifying textual and linking contents, changing the density of keywords which you wish to be found by and ensuring that these are high up in the coding of the page thus easy for the search engines to find.
